I work at an arcade. Most of the stuff people get are little things that don’t cost too much, but hey, it’s what a lot of kids and annoying teenagers want. But yesterday I encountered a woman that made a comment that made me upset. It’s not the end of the world, but…I just needed to rant about it.
Her son was…well…he’s the kind of kid that gets to be a little annoying. He didn’t have many points, and he took a really long time deciding what he wanted, so my patience was a little strained when I heard the comment. He wanted a temporary tattoo, and then his mother decided to pick one out for him. Now our temp. tattoos are all public domain stuff, and pretty random. She spent a while looking through them, and her son seemed to be a bit touched with…well…being a hyperactive kid. (I’m not able to diagnose kids with ADHD, but you get the point).
He wanted the hockey puck. No. He wanted the basket ball. No. He wanted the baseball. No. He finally decided he wanted this one with footprints, and they were rainbow. Real inoffensive. Just rainbow footprints. After he finally decides (and kind of starts to whine about it) his mother goes, “No. You’re getting one of these.” (indicating the sports tattoos). She then turns to me and goes “Those are a little faggy.”
I laughed and continued to let her pick out her prize, but…I was a bit hurt. She of course, didn’t know who I was. I’m bisexual, and while I didn’t deal with a huge issue about my sexuality, and I can laugh about jokes like that when my friends make them…she openly said something pretty hurtful without knowing or caring who she was saying it to.
I just wish that if people are going to be so disagreeable about gender stereotypes and not let their boys have anything feminine, then they’d at least keep their hurtful comments to their damn selves.
i love how ianto just thinks he is going to get a handshake
those tags lolol
Awkward unsure Ianto not being sure of the reception he’s going to get is the most gorgeous thing on this earth.
I just love the way he clutches at Jack when he hugs him. And the way he puts his face in Jack’s neck.
Jack does a lot of that hand-on-neck stuff for a snog. I rather love it. It’s comforting and possessive at the same time.
